Rumor ( Small bump one shot)
Portia POV
The night started out great.Kai had slept through the night which meant that I was also well rested which is important for my demanding work schedule. Kai is our one year old son. He always seemed to be energetic whether it is 3Am or 3pm. He was always ready to work out his little legs that are just learning how to walk. The important thing is that Ellen always helped around. Being a billionaire business woman didn't stop her from being a hands on parent to Kain and a wife to me. However as the day went on it took a turn for the worse.
I was in my office working on financial billings of the company when I got a phone call from my brother in the late afternoon telling me to check out a link that he had texted me. I clicked on it and I couldn't believe what I was reading I immediately stop everything that I was doing and with my phone in my hands I head to Ellen's office which is one the next floor from mine.
"Everyone get out now!" I say as I walk into her office where she was having a meeting with three other department heads.
"Portia, I am in the middle of a meeting and I would appreciate it if you didn't rudely interrupt me." She says standing up holding out her hand to the three department head signaling them to remain seated.
I turn my attention to them and say, "You better leave out of this fucking office or I'll call security and have you thrown out of this building" With that they all left the office.
"What the hell is wrong with you. Just because you are my wife and part owner of the company doesn't mean you get to act like a fucking maniac when I am in the middle of a meeting."
I take my phone and throw it to her which she catches. "Read that fucking article and tell me the truth right now." She goes through it before turning her attention to me.
"This is a ridiculous lie Portia." She says. "I need to make a statement to debunk these accusations.
" How true are they?" I ask
"How true are they? She asks sarcastically. " Are you fucking seriou? I just told you that they are lies."
"I want to believe you but..."
"But what Portia?" You either believe me or you don't. There is no in between about it. I can't believe you are actually believing them." She says.
"Those women are exactly your type. What do you want me to believe?" I asked.
"I want you to believe that as a descent human being and as your wife I wouldn't do this. I can't believe you just accused me of sexual harassment. I am going to make a statement and you should held home now and you better apologize to the department heads on your way out." She says with finality and I know she won't be discussing anything more.
Ellen POV
I can't believe that I am being accused of sexual harassment what's more shocking though is that Portia believed them over me. I walk into the communications and PR office so that I can draft a statement. However the head, Carey advised me not to make a statement until we consulting with my lawyer. I called my lawyer Andrew and when he finally arrived he was accompanied by a Private investigator,Jose. They both seat down and get to business.
"So Ellen first of all making a statement is a mistake." Andrew says
"This women are lying. How can you think that making a statement is a mistake? These women are lying so there is no need for Jose to be here." I said.
"Ellen you have a sexual harassment record because of your wife. One is a strong may be. Two is pattern and more than that it becomes a historical record bound to repeat itself. The best way to get aged of this is to gather all the information we can about these women. Is it possible that you somehow crossed the line a little bit with these women?" Andrew asked.
"No. Never" I said
"Okay. Then let José ask you a few questions afterwards and be completely honest on every question he will ask. For now avoid making any statements. The press comes at you say no comment over and over again at every question they throw at you."
"Okay."
"Now José is going to ask you some questions and after that you can head home. Keep you head low and I will call you tomorrow." Andrew says as he leaves with Carey behind me.
I head home as advised after José asked me a shit load of questions but thank God he too is also under a confidentially agreement. As I walk through the door and into the sitting room I find Portia playing with Kai. I smile at the sight as the feeling of peace and calm takes over me. I walk over and seat with them but Portia only wakes up and walks away without acknowledging my presence leaving me alone with Kai. I decide to play with Kai instead of chasing Portia because that will lead to a bigger argument. An hour passed and Kai starts to cry and I know that he is hungry so I walk to the kitchen with Kai in my arms and find that Portia had already set up Kai's dinner as well as mine. I feed Kai as I eat myself and pretty soon Kai starts dozing off so I take him up for a bath and put him to bed afterwards.
"Another woman has come forward." I hear Portia speak out as I walk into the living room.
"What do you want me to do Portia? I already told you those women are lying." I said as I pourned myself a drink and sat down
"I just want the truth. You have this past that is interfering with my life with Kai's life and I am not going to let anyone threaten him. I want to believe you but these women are exactly your type." She said
Smashing my drink on the floor I said, "For fucks sake. I told you they are lying. Do you want me to make a fucking list of every woman I have ever slept with. Will that help you in abandoning me be easier?"
"I am not abandoning you. I just want the truth."
"You are abandoning me. Look I am tired and I am not ready to go into a long ass argument with you tonight. I am going to sleep in the guest room while you decide whose side you are on." I said as I turned my back ready to leave her.
"Don't please. I believe you." She says as she holds my hand and tightens her grip around me.
"The truth is, I have slept with some of the women on that list. All of it was consentual and casual. Some women however i never interract with besides a few parties in which I coincidentally meet them. I need you to stand by me as I fight this allegations. I can't do this without you."
"I believe you. I am sorry for doubting you earlier. You won't fight this alone. I will help you foght ."
The next couple of months were very difficult to go through especially for Portia having to hear details about my past was trying because I think she thought she had known everything about me from the rumors that we going around about me before we got together. She had to sit and listen to my other previous partners testify in my defense and she also had to testify herself. With my defense team able to show that I never had any sexual relations with some women on that list, my case become stronger. As for the other women its was proven that they were all paid by some anonymous person to accuse me.
