Better Love
Jesse P.O.V
You are unbelievably happy and in love. Watching her sleep so peacefully away from the chaos of the night is truly captivating to you. You watch her and you can see her eyes moving a bit and you wonder what her tiny brain could be possibly dreaming about.
It is crazy how much love you can hold for one person. Its a dream come true for you. All those early mornings working out so that you can have the mental and physical energy to go after your goals. The countless number of times your friends teased you for a lack of social life.
But then you went out one night just to make your friends shut up for once and that is the first time your life changed. You got to know each other over drinks and date nights. She understood what you were trying to do. She understood why you needed to do it. She supported you through the ups and downs. She is the patient one and you are the one who apologized first after arguments. She is rational while you are irrational. She would keep you in check when you needed it. You could be vulnerable with her and you know she would protect you.
The second time your life changed is when you took her out for a nice date by the beach as she loves the sound of the waves. You've heard the ring in your pocket for one and a half years. Your family, her family, your friends, and her friends kept giving you hints to propose but you are so nervous that you bail out of your plans a number of times until her brother conners you and tell you to stop being a coward. She says yes like you knew she would.
The third time your life changed is tonight. You just brought your newborn daughter home. She looks exactly like your wife Alex. Alex is sleeping peacefully in your bed while you are standing over your daughter's crib in the nursery watching her sleep. Sophia was born on April 18th at 11:24 PM weighing just over 8 pounds. It is so unreal to have a tiny carbon copy of your wife's beautiful features in a tiny human that you were initially hesitant to hold as you thought you would drop her. Alex helps you calm down your nerves as always and now you want to hold her every time she is awake.
Before you know it you feel arms circling your waist.
"Come back to bed. You need to sleep just like she is."
Turning around to face her I say, "She is so beautiful. I love her. I love you too. Thank you for being my wife. Thank you for being the mother of my child. I can't imagine a better love than what we have right now."
"Thank you for loving me," She says. "Now let's go back to bed. You need to rest up so that you can take care of us."
She leads us back to our bedroom where she lays down on her side of the bed then asks me to hold her as she slept.
