How to build a life together: Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Alex POV

“Mum, what the hell?” I asked my mom clearly angry at her.

“I should ask you the same thing. What are you doing with her? How long has she been here for you to even have sex with her?” She says.

“I am an adult mom. I can have sex whenever and with whoever I want. You are just pissed off that it’s Jesse that I want to sleep with.”

“Of course am mad because you choose her. Of all the women around you just had to choose her.”

“In case you have forgotten she is the reason that I have Harper so I am going to be choosing her every single time as long as I love her.”

“Love her??? That woman has been away for two years and never knew that you were pregnant. Have you ever stopped to think who she has been with before you took your clothes off? How could I forget that she is the reason you are a single mom that no one wants to date you.”

“That was a low blow mom and you know it. You need to leave I don’t want to talk about this anymore.” I say and walk down the hall and up the stairs signaling the end of the discussion.

I join Harper who is sound asleep on my bed. As I look down at her I can’t help but think how much she looks like Jesse. She has her eyes and her playful nature which is a good thing because she sleeps quite easily. I think about how it would feel if Jesse was here holding us and talking about random things as we watch our daughter sleep.

Early in the morning the next day, I call Jesse but it just goes straight to voicemail so I call Ella trying to find out where Jesse is. Once she tells me the name of the hotel name and room number I ask if she and Katie can look after Harper so that I can go surprise Jesse which she agrees to.

I get up and head to my closet trying to decide what to wear since I was caught off guard yesterday my dress choice wasn’t something of a concern to me but now that I know that I am going to meet her I want her to never take her eyes off me. I decide on wearing a short blue dress that will match her eyes and go ahead to pack a bag for Harper. 

Once the two of us are ready we head out to Ella’s and Katie’s apartment and from there, I proceed to her hotel, stopping by the flower shop to buy her flowers. I knock on her door for a while ignoring the do not disturb sign hanging on the doorknob.

“Can’t you read?” Jesse asks as she swings the door wide open ready to give me a piece of her mind for disturbing her.

“Sorry,” I say as I hand her flowers. She reaches out with one hand to pull me into her room while the other hand grabs the flowers and once am in she shuts the door using her leg. She throws the flowers on the table that is to the left of us and then she wraps both her arms around me and kisses me. I move my hands down to go under her shirt to feel her skin and I feel her take in a sharp breath. I start to tug her shirt up to take it off but she stops me pulling back from our kiss and taking my hands in her.

“Wait.Wait.” She says to me.

“What’s wrong?” I replied back.

“I just wanted to say that you look really beautiful and to thank you for the flowers.” She says tracing my face with one of her hands.

“Thank you. I wanted my dress to match the color of your eyes.” I said and immediately I see something shift in her.
