How to build a life together; Chapter 3 (FLASHBACK)
Alex POV
(Italics represent a flashback)
I was packing up preparing myself to leave and go train the horses when my phone began to rung. I checked my phone’s screen and so it was an unknown number.

“Hello.” A voice says once I accept the call. I immediately recognize the voice even after hearing it for a few minutes it was imprinted in my mind.

“Hi. How are you doing?” I ask

“Am good. I was wondering if I could take you out properly for a cup of coffee since I know where the coffee shop is as a thank you for yesterday.” She says

“I’ll go with you but only on one condition,” I say already excited that I’ll be seeing her again.

“What’s the condition?”

“Tell me your full name,” I answer back

“I am not a serial killer if that’s what you are worried about.” She says after laughing a bit. “You are safe with me.”

“Well, there’s only one way to find out so…”

“Fine. My name is Jesse Davis. What about you?”

“I think one name is enough for now Jesse Davis.”

“Not fair at all but I’ll take it. So can I take you out?” She asks her voice becoming softer.

“Sure. Meet you at the coffee shop?”

“Okay. See you there. Bye.”

"Bye Jesse."

At the coffee shop
“Sorry for keeping you waiting,” I say once I see Jesse sitting by the window.

“It's fine. I wasn’t here for long. She answers as she pulls out my chair which is a bit odd but I don’t think much about it.

“So what would you like to drink?”

“A latter with no sugar. I say and I see her signaling the guy at the counter who brings me my order.

“How did you do that?” I asked since the coffee shop operates on a self-service policy.

“What?” She asks

“How did you get him to serve you?”

“Ooh that. I have some superpowers.” She answers with as mile and I know she is flirting.

“Ooh really like what?” I answer flirting back.

“I’ll let you in on some if you say yes to a date.”

“A date?” I asked trying to keep my excitement at bay.

“Yeah, a date. I pick you up at your place at around 7. I drive us to the restaurant. We order food, talk and I pay for it at the end. I then take you back home, I kiss you, say goodnight, and leave until next time.

“Okay. I’ll go out with you. I say plainly holding back my smile.

“Great. Does Friday night work for you?”

“Friday night is great.” I say but think to myself ‘What would be greater though is if we can skip to the kissing part.’

We talk for a bit before she says she has to leave for work and I look at the clock and realize I also have to get to work and train the horses.

Chapter 4; Jesse pov

I rush to get to training as fast as I could because if I was even a minute late couch would have me take five laps around the track. I take pride in being fit but even with my fitness level, I still get tired, and being tired before official practice is not good.

We practice as always until three after which we have a team meeting or just hang out as a team since bonding helps in the overall performance. After practice, one of my teammates, Ella and I decide to go out for drinks. Ella and I first met while I was in negotiations to transfer to Australia. We clicked easily and just as good friends do she pranked me on my first day in camp.

“So I meet someone yesterday when you decided to prank me,” I say as we sat at the bar.

“Really? Who?”

“A girl called Alex. We had coffee yesterday and today morning.”

“Is she beautiful?” Ella asked

“Yeah. She is really beautiful.” I say smiling at the memory of how mesmerizing she looked while she read her book.

“Did you ask her out?”

“Of course, I did. I would be a fool not to. She agreed to go out with me this Friday at seven so I need your help since I don’t know any restaurants around here.”

“No problem. You should ask Katie though she knows all the best restaurants to take your girl to speaking of here she is.”  She says as she gets up and greets her girlfriend

“We were just talking about you,” Jess says as she pulls out the chair for Katie.
Once both of them are seated Katie asks, “What about me?”

“Jesse met a girl and asked her out so she needs to know which the best restaurant is.

“What’s her name?” Katie asks me.

“It’s Alex.”

“Just Alex?”

“Yeah. She won’t tell me her other name.”

“Well good thing am a restaurateur. You can bring her to my restaurant and I’ll cook something special for both of you.”

“I can’t ask you to do that. You have already done a lot for me.” I reply

“You aren’t asking am offering. Plus am guessing she must be one hell of a chick if you are asking her out on your second day here.” Katie says.

“Yeah,” I answered. “She seems like she’s a cool and nice chick.”

“Well, it is settled bring her to my restaurant.”

“Thanks,” I say.

Just then Ella's favorite song comes on so she drags Katie to the dance floor and they start dancing hands all over each other. I watch them for a while then I decide to text Alex letting her know where we will be having our date. As I wait for a response, Katie is already back sighing heavily as she seats down.

“Can’t keep up with her?” I ask teasingly

“No way. You guys are way too fit.” She says as she takes a sip of her drink.

“So…. Are you going to have the talk with Alex?”

“I do. I have to if it’s going to work out. I need to be honest from the very beginning.”

“I hope it works out for you,” Katie says as she places her hand on top of mine in comfort.

“I hope so too.”
